GUJ

The Gujranwala Union of Journalists is the voice of the city's media community, affiliated with the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) and the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ). Its work includes representing members, taking part in national union elections and Federal Executive Council meetings, and standing up for press freedom. We set out to give this institution a digital home worthy of its standing: a clear, trustworthy platform where journalists, partner organizations and the public can learn who the union is, who leads it and who belongs to it.

The platform turns the union's most important records into simple, self-service tools. Anyone can look up a member and check their credentials, designation and affiliation, so journalists can establish their identity with confidence wherever they work. The annual Voter List is published online and kept up to date, which brings transparency to the union's elections. Dedicated pages introduce the Office Bearers and the union's past and present leaders at the national level, while the photo gallery documents its activities, from federal meetings and elections to protests in defence of press freedom. A website alone wasn't enough, so we also built a mobile app (React Native, Node.js) that offers the same core operations on every phone: Voter List, Member Search and Office Bearers.

Our vision was to bring a respected, long-standing institution into the digital age without losing its character. Records that once depended on printed lists and personal introductions are now one search or one tap away, around the clock. The design is clean, credible and easy to use for every member, and it leaves room to grow, with online membership already planned as the next step. For GUJ, this means stronger trust, easier verification and a modern way to serve its community.
